What is my purpose in life?
A lot of people are asking themselves this question. They are wondering what it is all about? It’s important to know that what you do counts. You don’t have to be a billionaire to make an impact in people’s lives. Sometimes the greatest gift is to listen to someone else. It gets us out of our own head. The greatest motivators are those who listen and listen well.
Knowing that what you do counts:
Knowing that what you do counts is really important. We can sometimes get a little lost and beat ourselves up wondering why we aren’t doing more. You are constantly influencing people whether you realize it or not. Sometimes mothers who stay at home wonder if they will ever see beyond the nappies, and endless washing, and chores that must be done on a daily basis. What you do does count!
Impact:
People tend to forget how important they are to others. Family members seek out advice on things that are a concern for them. They believe in you. They trust you. It may seem like it doesn’t matter to them what you say. The reality is that it will have some impact on them.
Finding something meaningful and productive:
Some people are at home unemployed wondering what to do. All day long the thoughts run like a movie script over and over in their head “what will I do”? You know the way sometimes looking at t.v. can be boring and you need to change the channel. Well now you may need to change the script going on in your head! You wrote the script. Change the movie that is going on in your head! It’s your LIFE.
Planning a list of things to do each day will help you move towards purpose and meaning in your life. Imagine getting that shed sorted or getting into gardening. Or even growing you own vegetables. Sometimes working on a voluntary basis for a cause that is of great meaning to you will help you realise that what you do has a great purpose. Believe in what you do.
Believe in who you are, the essence of the real you. The uniqueness of you and the gift of a life that you have. Start to believe that life has meaning and purpose. You are here for a reason. And what you do, and who you are count!
