Attitude is everything!

Posted on 11 January 2010 by admin under category Life coaching | Tags: , , , ,

My Mother is 82 years old.  She has arthritis, high blood pressure and is an Asthmatic.  She regularly says “look as long as I can put one foot in front of the other,  I’m mobile”.  She says she hasn’t the time to put up with pain “I have so much to do”.

She plays bingo.  She help run a club for the elderly where she is club secretary. She regularly fund raises from local politicians who are only too keen to support the group.  She lobbies for change in her area.  She goes on trips to the country with her pals.  They have dinner and dance the night away at club nights.    She has done yoga, flowering arranging, attends cake sales, and anything else she can find her way into.  There seems to be endless parties.  Christmas lasts the whole of December and into most of January.

She tells me often about her friends who are on “zimmer frames” or “walking sticks”. Does this stop them from going on trips?  Absolutely NOT!  In fact I am told that when a bus arrives to take them to a trip it can be difficult to help some friends onto the bus because of their various conditions. However, on a good night out and when the music starts, they all seem to forget their worries and dance the night away.  It is often the case that some of the people with zimmer frames and walking sticks forget these when leaving.  A lot of the time their grandchildren have to collect these the following day!

To me this is real Attitude.  These elderly people are the wisdom upon which our State was founded.  They are a light shining in the dark.  They are unafraid.  They live life to the full.  They stick together.  They stand up for their rights and believe in who they are.  They laugh in the face of recession because they know how difficult things were before we were born.

We have so much to learn.  Attitude is everything!

A positive attitude will change your life, you will feel better, laugh more, and people will want to be around you more.  Go on, give it a try!

What do you think?

Great post. In the words of Henry Ford – “Whether you think you can or think you can’t – You are right”. A positive or negative attitude? The choice is yours!

Hi Margaret,

You know, you are so right! It’s all about having the right mindset. You’ve heard the saying, the world is moving so fast these days that the one who says it can’t be done is generally interrupted by someone doing it!

Terrific post!

Paula.

Thanks Greg. Really appreciate your comments. Love the quote.

Thanks very much for your comment Paula. With the right mindset you can achieve so much.

Thanks Brian. I will let my mother know you approve! Next thing you know you will be on her Christmas lists!
Have a great week.
